The short version. We collect what we need to send your faxes, take payment through Apple or Google, and keep the app working. We don't sell your information, we don't use ad trackers or an advertising ID, and we delete your documents and fax images automatically (after 30 days by default). You can delete your account and data from inside the app.
1. Who we are
GoFax is a mobile app and service operated by WIDE WORLD LLC ("we", "us"), 75 E 3rd St, Ste S288, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the GoFax app for iOS and Android, this website, and our support channels (together, the "Service").
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Documents you fax. The pages you scan or import, the fax version we prepare (including the sender header and any cover page), the text you type on a cover page, and any label you give a recipient. Cover page text and recipient labels are stored encrypted.
- Sender details. The sender name you enter. US law requires every fax to show the sender's name, the sending fax number, and the date and time, so this information appears on every page you send, as "FROM: your name (via GoFax)". We keep a history of sender name changes so we can investigate complaints about impersonation or junk faxes (see retention).
- Recipient fax numbers you enter or select. We store them encrypted on our servers.
- Account details. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and, if you share it, your email address. You can also use the app without signing in; in that case we create an anonymous account identifier.
- Support messages you send us and the information in them.
Information created when you use the Service
- Fax records: date and time, recipient or sender number, page count, delivery status, error codes, number of attempts, and the transmission ID from our fax carrier.
- Received faxes (coming soon; only once fax receiving is available and you have a fax number): the fax images sent to your number and the sending number.
- Fax numbers assigned to you and the area code you chose (coming soon).
- Purchase information (purchase history): what you bought, subscription status, renewal dates, and transaction identifiers. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your card number.
- Credit balance and its history (purchases, reserved credits, used credits, refunds).
- Device information: app version, operating system, a push notification token, and a random installation ID created by the app.
- Device verification (see below).
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data.
- Product analytics: how features are used (for example, "fax sent" or "purchase screen viewed"), collected without an advertising identifier.
Information that stays on your device
- Contacts. If you pick a recipient from your contacts, the app reads your contacts on your device only. We receive only the fax number you choose.
- Text recognition on received faxes (coming soon, to let you search them) runs on your device.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint data is handled by your device's operating system. We never receive it.
Device verification
To keep the free first fax to one per device and to block automated abuse, we use the platform's device verification services. They tell us whether a request comes from a genuine copy of GoFax on a real device; they don't give us your name, phone number, or the hardware's serial number.
- iPhone and iPad: Apple App Attest (through Firebase App Check) and Apple DeviceCheck. DeviceCheck lets us store two yes/no values per device with Apple, for example "this device has used its free fax".
- Android: Google Play Integrity (through Firebase App Check), including Play Integrity device recall where available, which lets us store a small number of yes/no values for the device with Google. Where this isn't available, we may ask you to sign in with Google before sending your free fax.
These device values are kept after you delete your account (they are not linked to your name or email) so the free fax can't be claimed again by reinstalling the app. Apple and Google keep them under their own policies.
Data types at a glance
This summary matches what we report in the App Store privacy label and the Google Play Data safety section. None of this data is used to track you.

We don't collect your location, contacts, browsing or search history, or payment card details. Your documents may contain health or financial information; we treat them only as user content to send your faxes and don't use them for any other purpose.
3. How we use information
- To prepare, send, and track your faxes (and, once available, receive them), and to give you receipts.
- To add the sender identification header required by US law.
- To process purchases, keep your credit balance, and return credits for failed faxes.
- To prevent fraud, junk faxing, and abuse, including enforcing sending limits and reviewing unusual activity.
- To send you service notifications, such as delivery status and subscription reminders.
- To provide support, fix problems, and improve the app.
- To comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
We don't read your documents except where needed to provide the Service (for example, automated processing to add the fax header), when you ask us for help with a specific fax, or when required by law or to investigate a report of abuse.
4. What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA or Google Advertising ID).
- We don't show ads in the app.
- We don't use the content of your documents for marketing or to train AI models.
5. Service providers
We share information with companies that help us run the Service. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
| Provider | Purpose | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Telnyx | Fax transmission and fax numbers | Fax documents, sender and recipient numbers, fax status |
| Google Firebase | Sign-in, push notifications, app integrity checks, crash reports, product analytics | Account identifier, email (if shared), device and app information, usage events |
| RevenueCat | Managing purchases and subscriptions | Anonymous app user ID, purchase and subscription status |
| Apple and Google | App distribution and payment | Purchase information (they act under their own privacy policies) |
| Cloudflare R2 | Encrypted file storage | Documents, fax images, receipts |
| Cloudflare | Servers and database | All Service data described in this policy |
| Resend | Email delivery (for example, support replies; forwarding received faxes to your email is coming soon) | Email address, email content |
Your fax is, of course, delivered to the recipient you choose. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect people's safety, to investigate abuse such as junk faxing, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case this policy continues to apply).
6. How long we keep information
- Documents and fax images (sent, and received once available), and the first-page thumbnail on receipts, are deleted automatically after 30 days by default. You can choose a different period in Settings.
- Receipt records (date and time, recipient or sender number, page count, transmission ID, status) are kept so you have proof of sending, until you delete them or your account. Settings has an option to delete receipt records along with your documents.
- Purchase and credit records are kept as long as needed for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and legal obligations, which may be after you delete your account. After account deletion they are pseudonymized (separated from your identity: your name, email, and documents are removed) and kept for 7 years. Pseudonymized records are not anonymous: they could be linked back to a store purchase if required by law.
- Server logs don't contain document content, and fax numbers in logs are partially masked. Logs are kept for 30 days.
- Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis within 30 days.
- Device flag for the free fax (see Device verification) is kept for 1 year from the last time the device used GoFax.
- Sender name change history, including the names you entered, is kept for 1 year after you delete your account, as evidence in case of impersonation or junk fax complaints. It is stored encrypted, and the IP address and device ID are removed when your account is deleted.
- Abuse reports and complaint records (for example, reports of junk faxes and accounts suspended for them) are kept for 2 years. IP addresses in these records are deleted after 90 days.
- Technical notices from our fax carrier may include fax numbers. Their content is stored encrypted for a fixed 30 days, regardless of your automatic deletion setting, and the remaining technical record (event type, time, and internal IDs) is deleted after 90 days.
- Sending limit data. To apply sending limits, we keep a keyed digest of the recipient number that doesn't include your identity. It stays until the fax is 30 days old, even if you chose a shorter automatic deletion period or turned on the option to delete receipt records, and is then deleted.
When you delete your account, it is closed right away, and we erase your account data, documents, fax images, receipts, and fax history within 30 days, including from backups. We keep only pseudonymized (separated from your identity) billing records needed for accounting, your sender name change history (including the names you entered) for 1 year, any abuse reports involving your account, and a device flag that prevents free-fax abuse. Full details: Delete your account.
7. Security
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) between the app, our servers, and our providers.
- Stored files are encrypted at rest, and each user's files are accessible only through access checks on our servers.
- Our fax carrier receives your document through a link that expires within minutes.
- You can lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or your fingerprint.
Please keep in mind that fax itself travels over the telephone network and is not end-to-end encrypted. Once a fax is delivered, the recipient's fax machine or service controls that copy. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a security incident that affects you, we will notify you as required by law.
8. Health information and HIPAA
Many people use fax to send medical and insurance paperwork. GoFax treats every document as private, but GoFax does not currently claim to be HIPAA compliant and does not sign Business Associate Agreements. Healthcare providers, health plans, and their business associates should not use GoFax to send protected health information on behalf of their organization.
9. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app or by request on the web (see Delete your account).
- Delete documents and receipts at any time in the app, and choose the automatic deletion period in Settings.
- Notifications: turn push notifications off in your device settings.
- Access, correction, deletion, and portability: you can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing privacy@gofaxmail.com. We may need to verify your identity. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
California and other US states
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have the rights described above, as provided by that law. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. You may use an authorized agent to make a request. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
Canada
If you live in Canada, your information is processed and stored in the United States (see section 11) and may be accessible to US courts and authorities under US law. You may request access to and correction of your personal information, and you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information) if you have a concern we haven't resolved. Quebec residents can reach the person responsible for the protection of personal information at privacy@gofaxmail.com.
10. Children
GoFax is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Where information is processed
We are based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States, including if you live in Canada. Some of our providers may also process information in other countries. Where we transfer information, we use the safeguards required by applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
